February Week 3 – Valentines Card

Obviously with the subject being Valentines Card this is again a delayed post – for 2 reasons 1. So hubby didn’t see the card before the day and 2.  To give me time to have a bit of a catch up.

So for this card I used the following from my stash:

I used my Cricut Explore to cut the text and then accentuated parts of it with the stickles.  My aim was to keep a pretty clean and simple (CAS) card.

Week 3 – Christmas Card 1

So after the landlady had been an gone for our house inspection this morning and I did the Sunday must do’s.  I sat down to a quiet afternoon Crafting whilst hubby played on the X-box.  I decided today I was going to work on my 2 Christmas cards for the month – I will be blogging about these in separate posts so lookout for another post in the near future.

For the first card I used the Mojo Monday Challenge 431 Sketch as an inspiration.  The sketch is below.

January Week 2 – Birthday Card

So back at work this week and another busy week trying to fit everything in, plus being full of head cold and feeling quite poorly. But this week has seen my mothers birthday and therefore another card.  Here Birthday was actually the 13th but as she is not too close to me we didn’t see her until today hence the delay in sharing this card with you.  I actually made it at the same time as I made my mother – in -laws.

For this card I used the following from my stash:

  • 8″ Sq White Card Blank
  • Crafters Companion Pastel Pink Pearlescent Card Stock
  • Hunkydory Flutterbye Wishes Special Edition – Arranged with Love Topper & Sentiment
  • Wooden Butterflies (I cant remember where from)
  • Hobbycraft Black foam letters.
  • Purple Gemstones (I cant remember where from).

So here is the card:

January Week 1 – Birthday Card

So this week has been busy despite still being off work on leave. There just don’t seem to be as many hours in the day as are required. I have been busy de-cluttering the Kitchen … I think I am finally on the homewards straight with that (hopefully).  Today I have emptied all the cupboards under the counters with the aim of sorting there contents and putting it all away tomorrow.  Unfortunately I have not quite had enough time to do as much crafting as I have wanted.

I have however had time to make a Birthday card for my Mother – in – law.  It was her Birthday on Thursday and I have delayed writing this post for 2 reasons – 1. a lack of time to do it, and 2. to ensure that she didn’t see her card before we had given it too her.

For those of you who have been following me for a while may remember that my Mother – in – Law is a big fan of butterflies therefore obviously Butterflies feature in this card design.

I used the following Challenge as inspiration for this card:

Challenge 25 – Father’s Day

So another of my catch up blogs – and another card.  This time a card for Fathers day for my Husbands Dad.

I took this as an opportunity to use my new Cricut again – this time I used the design space to design the card from scratch.  I used free elements that had come with my trial subscription. Again I used the pen / cutter to create a sentiment to attach to the inside of the card (although I forgot to take a photo).

For a Father that has everything you could want it is difficult to know what to do.  So I went for a simple masculine tie based design.  I used the cut function to Cut the “Happy Fathers Day” sentiment (this is what I used the pens on the inside to create).  I cut the 3 ties and square backers and then stuck it all together.

For this card I used the following from my stash:

Challenge 24 – Anniversary

Again another of my catch-up blogs.  Last week was Matt’s parents Anniversary… therefore time for another card.  It was my Birthday at the beginning of the Month and for it my husband treated me to a Cricut Explore.  I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and test it out.  Therefore this anniversary card gave me the the opportunity to test it out.  As Matt’s mum (as I have mentioned previously) is a big fan of Butterfly’s I used this as a basis for the card.

The Cricut Explore came with a trial of the Design Space Subscription, but for this design I also paid for some elements – which stay with my account whether or not I continue the subscription.  I found the design space very user-friendly and enjoyed trying different things out.  I also liked the fact that you can use pens to write at the same time as you are cutting – I used this to write a sentiment for the middle of the card – although I forgot to photo this.  For those of you who have not seen the explore – I have included this below – plus the “1st project” which they include everything you require to create.

As this was my first card I used a “project” that had been shared in the design space and I then tweaked it for how I wanted it / colours I wish to use.  There is a function which allows you to see what elements you have on what card and reallocate them as required – I find this a very useful function.  I found one minor niggle with the card but its one that you can work around – that is that you can only set the material size to the Mat size – therefore you need to be careful  if only using A4 paper for example.

Anyway here is my first card – I believe it gave me a real opportunity to test the “detailing” that you can use with this machine – and the level of detailed cuts you can do.  I was really pleased with the results – although learnt how important it is to use the correct mat for the material you are using.  Some of the more delicate cuts can be difficult to lift from the mat – which can therefore easily result in damage to them.  I look forward to using the machine more in my papercrafting activities as well as experiment with other things (there may well be a bit more of a home-made Christmas this year).

Challenge 23 – Congratulations

So I have been quite poor recently at blogging and therefore have a few projects to update you on – as well of course as a growing list of projects I want to start / finish.  This one is a card from earlier in June – when a mate got married.  Her and her fiancée had been together for quite some time – and it was really great to see them finally tie the knot.

This is a twist on an anniversary card that I had made not that long before – but a bit of a change to it and I used blues because I was aware that this was one of her wedding colours.  Again this is quite a nice CAS card.

I used the following from my Stash:

  • Pearlescent card blank (PDA card and craft freebie)
  • Blue Pearlescent Card Stock (Hobbycraft) cut using Spellbinders Deckled edge rectangular Die.
  • “Congratulations” sentiment
  • DoCrafts Denim Dome Stickers
  • Bride and Groom Shadow Die-Cut Decoupage
  • Blue Ribbon
  • Midnight Stickles
  • Wood Veneer Bird

I hope you enjoy this take on other cards.

Challenge 22 – Birthday Card

This is the last card I have scheduled to create for a few weeks – although this might give me the opportunity to do a “just for fun” card – life just seems so busy at the moment I don’t have time to do such things.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
