Week 3 – MosaiCraft

So over the weekend I did find time to do some MosaiCraft (I struggle to do any on a Friday Night due to being out at Explorer Scouts) so tend to catch up with 2 on a Saturday.  Due to only having 1 colour left in the last square I decided on Sunday that I would do a bonus one to finish the baseplate. Plate

For those who have never come across MosaiCraft before but are looking to do something new I can highly recommend it.  MosaiCraft is a cross between mini-mosaic and paint by numbers.  You have a printed Pattern which you put your clear baseplate over this acts like the paint by numbers and tells you where to put which plastic Pixel. These individual Baseplates then clip together to form an overarching pixel.  There are a vast array of kits you can get of various sizes to give some brilliant pixels but also you can get some custom kits manufactured from your own images – I am looking forward to doing this once I can settle on a picture design.

The kit that I am currently doing is a 9 baseplate kit Van Gogh starry kit.  I now have 6 baseplates complete with 3 left to go – but it is coming together nicely.  I didnt have time to do any last night … so I have one square to catch up on.

January Week 3 – Project Life

So I went and visited my Mum on Saturday so no crafting was done then.  However yesterday my Husband went off to do his 5th day Scouting (out of the last 7) and as I was feeling a bit healthier I decided to spend the day doing some de-cluttering in the Kitchen as well as doing some Crafting.

I decided that I would catch up with some of my Project Life Layouts.  First I started this years Folder (this was a little over due as it had been past 2 weeks since the activity of the first layout – but this couldn’t be helped when I was ill).  First I did the Front Page using the suggested cards and then I personalised it. This was using the Everyday Folder and Core Kit.  On the front Page I have attached a photo of Matt and Myself from last year – I have attached this using Photo corners so that I can replace it at the end of the year with a nice photo of us both from this year.

First Page

I then did my Wild Place layout.  I had a lot of photos to use therefore I decided to try and keep this layout pretty simple with minor embellishments. I used Thickers for name and then added a wooden embellishment for the welly boots and the “family”.

Wild Side

I then moved on and caught up with one of my 2015 layouts – this was one from our Holiday back in April (yes I am very behind) and on this day we went to Paignton Zoo for the day.  Again I had lots of photos from this day and therefore I kept the layout very simple using Good Times Value Kit and letting the photos speak very much for themselves.

Here is an update on my other crafting goals:

  • 2016 PL Layouts (1/1 so far)
  • 2015 PL Layouts (2/4 so far)
  • 0/1 Baking Project
  • 0.8/1 Knitting / Crotchet Project
  • 2 /2 General Card
  • 0/2 Christmas Cards
  • 18/31 MosaiCraft Squares Complete (I have done one bonus one).

Look out for a post later in the week – updating on the status of my MosaiCraft.

January Week 2 – Birthday Card

So back at work this week and another busy week trying to fit everything in, plus being full of head cold and feeling quite poorly. But this week has seen my mothers birthday and therefore another card.  Here Birthday was actually the 13th but as she is not too close to me we didn’t see her until today hence the delay in sharing this card with you.  I actually made it at the same time as I made my mother – in -laws.

For this card I used the following from my stash:

  • 8″ Sq White Card Blank
  • Crafters Companion Pastel Pink Pearlescent Card Stock
  • Hunkydory Flutterbye Wishes Special Edition – Arranged with Love Topper & Sentiment
  • Wooden Butterflies (I cant remember where from)
  • Hobbycraft Black foam letters.
  • Purple Gemstones (I cant remember where from).

So here is the card:

January Week 2 – Lego

This was my first week back at work since Christmas and also unfortunately I have been poorly 😦 so I haven’t managed to do as much as I would like to have done this week as I have just got home from work and crashed on the sofa. However, I thought I would post about something a bit different and not necessarily crafty but something that I have managed to complete this week.

So with some of the money / vouchers I got given for Christmas  I treated myself to Lego Doctor Who.  I could have sat down in one go to be honest to build it … but I decided that I would do it in stages to prolong the enjoyment.  I was even nice and let my husband build one of the Darlek’s.  I would love to get Lego Wall-E but I haven’t done that yet…maybe later in the year.

So how am I getting on with my other January Crafting goals:

  • 2016 PL Layouts (0/1 so far)
  • 2015 PL Layouts (1/4 so far)
  • 0/1 Baking Project
  • 0.75/1 Knitting / Crotchet Project
  • 2 /2 General Card (second one will be shared over the weekend)
  • 0/2 Christmas Cards
  • 14/31 MosaiCraft Squares Complete.

Thank you for reading 🙂

January Week 1 – Birthday Card

So this week has been busy despite still being off work on leave. There just don’t seem to be as many hours in the day as are required. I have been busy de-cluttering the Kitchen … I think I am finally on the homewards straight with that (hopefully).  Today I have emptied all the cupboards under the counters with the aim of sorting there contents and putting it all away tomorrow.  Unfortunately I have not quite had enough time to do as much crafting as I have wanted.

I have however had time to make a Birthday card for my Mother – in – law.  It was her Birthday on Thursday and I have delayed writing this post for 2 reasons – 1. a lack of time to do it, and 2. to ensure that she didn’t see her card before we had given it too her.

For those of you who have been following me for a while may remember that my Mother – in – Law is a big fan of butterflies therefore obviously Butterflies feature in this card design.

I used the following Challenge as inspiration for this card:

For this card I used the following from my stash:

January – Project Life Catch Up

So today was the day that my husband went back to work.  I had planned a full day of crafting – but that was pretty unsuccessful as first I:

  • Ran week 8 of my Couch to 5k programme I am currently doing (all be it unsuccessfully as my ankle was hurting so I finished early).
  • Did my Declutter 365 mission for the day, as well as do the stack of washing up and my days “tidying” – today was to sort bills / paperwork etc.
  • Baked a loaf of bread (this was in my bread maker so I am not counting it as part of my goals).
  • Cooked Dinner

So then I decided it was time to attack some of my crafting goals.  I also realised that my Project Life goal is a bit unspecific… Therefore I am going to extend it a little.

  • Current Project Life – Produce each layout within 2 weeks of the event.  (I have one layout I want to do for 2016 so far but this is waiting on a new set of core cards).
  • 2015 Project Life – Do at least 4 layouts per month. (This may turn out to be a bit ambitious so I will see how I am doing and review).

Close

So today I decided to tackle one of my 2015 project life layouts – realising quite how far behind I am … this one is from 22nd April 2015 on Matt’s and my Sun holiday.  I hope you enjoy the layout below:

Collage

So how are my other goals going:

  • 2016 PL Layouts (0/1 so far)
  • 2015 PL Layouts (1/4 so far)
  • 0/1 Baking Project
  • 0.5/1 Knitting / Crotchet Project
  • 0/2 Birthday Cards (I am going to expand this to be “general cards” i.e. include Anniversary, sympathy etc).
  • 0/2 Christmas Cards
  • 3/31 MosaiCraft Squares Complete.

I am aiming to get some more crafting done this week (plus we have a family birthday) … so watch this space.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year … and what a year it has been.

A review of 2015 …I believe that I did complete my challenge of 52 projects in one year … however things went a little bit wrong and the last 6 months I haven’t really blogged.  This is for a majority of reasons including work load, and the issue that once  I get a back log I find it hard to get motivation again to move forwards. I plan to tackle this issue in 2016 so hopefully I should become more regular at posting throughout the year.

And on to 2016 … So for the first time in quite a few years I have decided to set myself some New Years Goals.   I know it is very clichéd but New Year –> New Me.  One of the keys to the success of these goals is the fact that I plan to review progress on a monthly basis and adapt as required … therefore really setting goals in more manageable chunks.  Obviously not all of my goals relate to my crafting – some relate to weight, fitness, sorting house etc. But I have outlined my crafting goals below:

  • Get up to date and keep up to date with Project Life.
  • Do 1 Baking Project per month.
  • Do 1 Knitting or Crotchet Project per month.
  • Make 2 Birthday Cards a month.
  • Make 2 Christmas Cards a month. (I plan to use 52 Christmas Card Throwndown challenge blog to help with this).
  • Do 1 “square” of MosaicCraft every.

Obviously this doesn’t include “other” craft projects / activities that I may do.  Therefore I would like to include an additional challenge for myself.

  • Do 12 “other” craft activities in 2016.

Other crafts may be “extras” from those listed above or may be a different craft – e.g. a photograph I have edited or a “kit” that I have (e.g. My husband brought me a Proggy Dog for Christmas), or a Scrapbook page… from our Honeymoon.

Thanks for reading and I hope to keep you updated through 2016! Including updating you on my goals and progress against them.

Challenge 27 – New Craft

So earlier this month it was my Birthday.  My 18 month old niece brought me a “Socktastic Kit”.  This consisted of supplies required to create a full sock monster (although I found there wasn’t enough toy stuffing). As well as instructions of how to create another 8 different sock creations …

So I set about creating the kit monster (he needs a name) – which had the hardest difficulty rating … I hope you like the finished product.  I have a few ideas of some others I may well create as well.

Challenge 26 – Project Life

So I have got behind a bit on my Project Life … with an ever-growing to do list.  One of my problems here has been finding time / inspiration to sort through and edit my photos.  I have recently done a Big Picture Class on photo fixes – using Photoshop Elements.  This has really got me using Photoshop elements – which I am finding so powerful and alot easier to use than I thought.

So we went away for a holiday back in April to Hoburne Devon Bay.  I am still getting on top of the photo editing for these but I thought I would share with you the first 2 layouts that I have now completed.  Hubby and I are not good at sitting and doing not alot so whenever we go away we pack alot in – this does result in a lot of photos and several activities being done on many days.

So on our first day we went to Kent’s Cavern, Barracombe Model village and we went on the English Riviera Wheel. We also had a couple of games of Crazy Golf.

Holiday Day 1

I don’t like adding too much detail to my layouts but I do like including a few subtle embellishments. I am really liking Wood Veneer embellishments just to add a level of detail.

Holidayday1-insert_edited-1

On our second day we went to Living Coast Aquarium before checking in at our Caravan and exploring the site.

Holiday Day 2

With this layout I liked having the “Today” card imbetween 2 photos of flowers.  I therefore took the opportunity to use a flower embellishment to emphasise the “O” of Today.

Challenge 25 – Father’s Day

So another of my catch up blogs – and another card.  This time a card for Fathers day for my Husbands Dad.

I took this as an opportunity to use my new Cricut again – this time I used the design space to design the card from scratch.  I used free elements that had come with my trial subscription. Again I used the pen / cutter to create a sentiment to attach to the inside of the card (although I forgot to take a photo).

For a Father that has everything you could want it is difficult to know what to do.  So I went for a simple masculine tie based design.  I used the cut function to Cut the “Happy Fathers Day” sentiment (this is what I used the pens on the inside to create).  I cut the 3 ties and square backers and then stuck it all together.

For this card I used the following from my stash:

I hope you like my creation:
